Collaborative agreement Soil Research Institute of Ghana (CSIR-SRI) and ISRIC
ISRIC and the Soil Research Institute of Ghana (CSIR-SRI) have entered in a collaborative Research & Development program and started an implementation project to develop and serve soil data products to the public.
Johan Leenaars visited the institute (23 Feb- 2 March 2016) at its premises in Kumasi and worked together with the soil survey division team to fine tune the work plan and start the first activities.
The plan is to produce gridded soil maps of the country, applying a two-staged approach which uses legacy soil data for baseline mapping and newly collected topsoil data for map updating, and to set up a spatial data infrastructure to make the soil data and products available. Preparations are being made for guest research with SRI staff visiting ISRIC to work on the project.
